What it Takes for an M365 Migration

“45 days” may sound like an immovable goal; in practice, however, it should serve as an important constraint that governs every decision you make.

One project on which I worked involved migrating an entire Microsoft 365 tenant within a 12-hour window; no extensions, and no room for error in scheduling were allowed.

At that scale, the hard part isn’t the technical lift but rather its coordination: user access must remain intact, data must validate cleanly, permissions shouldn’t slip quietly off, and constant communication ensures nobody will be taken by surprise on cutover day.

We were successful in meeting our deadline, yet fast was only part of our design constraints; rather, our true aim was zero surprises at go-live.

That is what differentiates a successful migration from one that’s just hastened; once cutover happens, there is no going backwards or backtracking option available to us.
