Previously, migration was an IT task. It’s now a decision about business risk.
In the past, migration meant moving the servers, transferring the data and updating the systems. IT would fix a problem quietly and move on if something went wrong.
This model is no longer available.
Today, migration touches on:
- Communication systems
- Customer data
- Platforms that generate revenue
- Every team in the building has daily operations
A poorly executed migration can create more than a support ticket. It can slow down entire departments, miss deadlines, expose a company to security risks, and erode trust both within the organization and among customers.
The best teams no longer treat migration as a task of technical complexity. They approach it as a planned business transition with planning, sequencing and validation integrated from the start.
Migration is not an IT task. It’s a critical business event.
