Many organizations running hybrid environments treat them as stable architecture. They’re not. They’re a migration that hasn’t finished yet.

Hybrid works. It also carries costs that fully cloud or fully on-prem environments don’t — identity management complexity, inconsistent policy enforcement, and a support burden that lives in the gap between two operating models.

The organizations that run hybrid well have a clear roadmap for what comes next. The ones that struggle landed there after an incomplete migration and never built a plan for the next phase. The hybrid environment became permanent by default, not by design.

Hybrid is a valid place to operate. The question worth asking is whether it was a decision or just where the last project stopped.
