IT cannot answer these questions alone.

What’s your team’s highest-risk cutover time? (End of the quarter, product launch, board meeting — IT does not always know these)

What data or systems are critical to daily operations and why? The answer to this question may not be the same as what is in the CMDB.

How will you contact your team members during the transition? (Not only IT contacts — business stakeholders that can confirm things are running)

What does “done” look like to you? (IT defines successful cutover differently than the business, and misaligned goals can cause friction that appears as a technical problem.

When it breaks, the failure looks technical. When something breaks, it looks like a technical failure. Usually, it’s not.
