The riskiest migrations aren’t the disorganized ones. They’re the ones where every item on the checklist is green and the team has full confidence going into the cutover window.

Each dependency documented. Each item checked. The plan looks clean.

Then something breaks that wasn’t on the list — not because the team was careless, but because the list was built from what the team already knew. It had no mechanism for finding what it didn’t.

A checklist that covers every known scenario isn’t thorough. It’s a mirror. It reflects existing assumptions back at you and calls it validation.

The question worth asking before cutover isn’t “is everything checked?” It’s “what didn’t we put on this list, and why isn’t it here?”
