The technical plan was solid. What actually determined the timeline was how well five teams stayed aligned across six consecutive weeks.

Infrastructure, security, app owners, and business stakeholders all had a stake in the outcome and all had different priorities they were trying to protect. None of that was a problem. Unmanaged, it would have been.

What kept it on track was straightforward: clear communication, defined ownership so nobody was asking who was responsible for what, shared timelines everyone could see, and regular check-ins that caught small problems before they reached the cutover window.

By go-live, everyone already knew what was happening and when. That wasn’t luck. It was the result of treating coordination as part of the technical work, not something that runs alongside it.
