Migration used to belong to one team. Plan, run, support, done. That model is gone.

Real migrations now pull in infrastructure, security, application owners, and business stakeholders whose dependencies determine whether the cutover actually holds. It’s not a linear handoff anymore. It’s a coordination problem that runs the entire length of the project.

Without that coordination the same failures show up every time. Dependencies don’t get flagged until someone hits them mid-project. Issues go undetected because the right people weren’t in the loop. Communication breaks down at exactly the moment everyone needs clarity most.

I’ve watched technically sound migrations stall on nothing technical. The plan was right, the tools were right, and the project lost weeks because key people didn’t know what was happening or when they needed to act.

Execution gets you most of the way there. Coordination is what closes the gap.
