Licensing the right tool doesn’t make a migration succeed. I hear that assumption often enough that it’s worth saying directly.

BitTitan, ShareGate, and Azure Migrate are solid platforms. I use all three regularly. I’ve also watched migrations fail with every one of them, and watched migrations succeed on far less sophisticated tooling.

The difference was never the software. It was whether the work that happens before anyone touches a tool was done correctly. Dependencies mapped, data validated, stakeholders briefed, exceptions documented.

The tool executes the plan. It doesn’t replace it.

If the first question in a migration strategy meeting is “what tool are we using,” something important got skipped. The employees affected by the migration haven’t been part of the conversation yet. That gap shows up at cutover when users are surprised by changes nobody prepared them for, and the help desk absorbs what the communication plan should have handled weeks earlier.
