There’s an assumption in IT that migration is mostly behind us. Cloud adoption happened, the work is done, and what’s left is maintenance.

That’s not what I’m seeing in practice.

Cloud migrations are still running. M&A activity keeps generating tenant consolidation and identity integration work that can’t be deferred without blocking the value the deal was structured to deliver. Organizations are still standardizing on M365 at scale, which means large collaboration platform migrations are sitting on someone’s roadmap right now, not behind them.

Migration isn’t a one-time event that organizations complete and move past. The ones that treat it as ongoing operational work build repeatable processes. The ones that treat each migration as a new problem reinvent everything from scratch and pay for it in timeline and cleanup.

Professionals who understand that shift will stay busy. The demand isn’t shrinking. It’s changing shape.
