There is an assumption in IT that migration has already occurred at most companies – that cloud adoption has taken place and work now focuses on ongoing maintenance. But this assumption could be false: migration often still lies ahead for most organizations.
That isn’t what I’m witnessing.
Migrations to the cloud remain in progress, driven by M&A activity that demands tenant consolidation and identity integration. Furthermore, businesses remain committed to standardizing on Microsoft 365 at scale; therefore resulting in large collaboration-platform migrations appearing on someone’s roadmap.
Migration is no longer a one-off event; rather, it should be treated as a continual operational requirement – companies that recognize this create repeatable processes instead of reinventing them each time around.
Professionals who understand this shift will remain busy for some time to come.
