Migration Engineers Who Consistently Deliver

Four traits I’ve observed in the migration engineers that consistently deliver

Not a tool list. A list for thinking.

  1. They plan everything before touching anything – dependencies are mapped out before execution begins, not discovered after.
  2. They validate instead of assuming . “It looks like it worked”, and “it worked”, are two different claims that they treat differently.
  3. They understand systems, not tickets. They know how an environment works as a unit, and not only the piece that they are touching.
  4. They do not lose sight of business continuity. Every technical decision is weighed in relation to what it means for the people who depend on the system.

The common thread in the success of engineers is discipline and not credentials. Migration is technically difficult, but engineers who consistently deliver it treat it first as operational work.
