A simple way to define the cloud migration mindset is the explain what exactly is the cloud migration…
The cloud migration process is the steps EXECUTED in order to move compute, storage, network, and data for applications and associated computer-related processes from geographically localized infrastructures (egs.: server closets, data centers, computer rooms, etc.) to cloud environments (egs.: Microsoft Azure, Oracle OCI, Amazon AWS, Google GCP, etc.).
The task of moving these precious applications and associated data are not a task for the faint-of-heart. There are 5 primary phases of a successful cloud migration (using the APPLY method):
1. Accumulate information on what is in scope for the migration
2. Plan the steps necessary to migration what is in scope
3. Practice migration (work the plan and document what you do)
4. Legitimize the work (have users stress test the migrated systems)
5. Yourself (review what you did and how you can do it better/faster)
This site is dedicated to improving the understanding and execution of these stages. The goal of this site is to SOLVE PROBLEMS related to either cloud migrations today or the misunderstanding of them, thereof.
