Zero Data Loss Is Not an Achievement. It Is the Minimum Expectation. Here Is What Actually Matters.

“Zero Data Loss” is often the goal of migration engineers. After migrating 1000+ mailboxes on 8 projects, zero data loss would be my argument. The real measure is a different one.

It took real discipline to maintain data integrity on this volume. It is not trivial. It is not the final destination.

The wrong outcome is measured by organizations who define success only as data security. The real indicator is business continuity: how quickly the users were productive within the new environment.

The metric which is most important is the time-to-productivity post-cutover. Hyper Care can compress that timeframe. My experience supporting 500+ clients over 3 post migrations revealed what it costs when data integrity is achieved but user experience is not. The tickets escalations & executive calls tell a clear story.

The engineering disciplines preventing it: premigration user communication; pre-staging of Outlook profiles; pre-assigned licences and a staffed, owned Hyper Care window.

Zero data losses is the ceiling. Zero business interruption is the ceiling. Engineers who aim to achieve the ceiling are the ones who organizations turn to for their next project.

Users do NOT care that their data arrived intact. They care whether their email was working on Monday.
